The only rule is to have fun, keep an eye for you threads and be always in stitches.
Pick 15 projects that are ALREADY STARTED and FINISH them.
ha, there you are, my challenge to you. Not new ones coz we all know there are far more than 15 to which we would like to start.

OK--here is my list!

After a long day of trying to get this out there into blogland, here is my WIP list for 2011. Of course, as I finish some, I will move on to do others, cause there seems to be no shortage in my stash! And I did not include my BAPS in progress--they are not necessarily going to be completed in 2011, tho it would be nice! Then there are all the LHN ornies I did not finish, the Lizzie Kate Living With Charm ones I did not finish yet, and the LHN monthlies--they will be fill-ins and work projects. Since gas is so darned expensive, I will skip going home for lunch most days and stitch instead! Here they are, in no special order:

  1. Willie's Quaker #2, Monasterium Designs

  2. Spring Floral Sampler, Knotted Tree Designs

  3. Kindness Begets, Birds of a Feather

  4. Cast Your Cares, My Big Toe Designs

  5. Bee Sampler, LHN

  6. Seasonal Blooms: Spring & Summer, Brittercup Designs

  7. Lauren's Voice, La-D-Da

  8. Joy in the Journey, Diane Williams

  9. Ladybug Lane, CCN

  10. Cabin in the Woods, Bent Creek

  11. Jenny Bean Christmas, Shakespeare's Peddler

  12. Curly Q Ewe, LHN

My List for 2011

Hello everyone! I'm very excited to be a part of this challenge and to hopefully make lots of progress on some of my wip's. I realized while compiling my list that many of them are pretty large so I'll be happy to finish one or two and just forge ahead with the rest. So here we go:

1. Santa's Cookies from this year's JC preview ornament issue
2. Wild Winter by M Designs
3. Emmanuel's Song by Shepherd's Bush

9. Beauty in Simplicity by Blue Ribbon Designs
10. The Flax Sampler by Eileen Bennett
11. Song Bird Haven by Stoney Creek
12 - 15 LHN Christmas ornaments

I'm ashamed to say that Santa's Cookies was supposed to be a Christmas present that will be late! The original was done on 40 count and with the background filled in with red, but I am just doing in on red fabric and forgetting the fill in part. That is my first priority. I can't wait to see the wonderful progress we all make!

Well, here we are, almost New Years Eve, and how many of us are really and truly ready?  I would like to Thank each and every one of you for joining into our Up for a Challenge/ Flipp'n Crazy January Challenge.  I can't believe there are so many of us already!  and only a few more spots open to capacity. That should really make us all feel so good to know that we are not alone in this venture of silliness...

As I am looking through all of the lists which have already been posted  I find myself admiring and acknowledging that we sure have our work cut out for us. I think we're in for a great year with many wonderful pieces to stitch... I can't speak for everyone our list but one thing is for sure....I know I will start at least 12 newbies this year simply because of the ornament challenges, then of course what ever the new ALESSANDRA ADELAIDE Christmas Design happens to be in 2011, not to mention any other design I fall in love with from seeing it on one of our fellow stitchers posts.  A few I know for sure on order are.....I know,,,here I go again....well feel free to hop in so I won't be alone or the only crazy one adding to the pile as we go....ok so the ones ordered are... the new Heaven and Earth "Father Christmas: Sleigh Ride" and Sue Hillis "Stitchers Days of Christmas" So with all this said

Challenge List from LindataxPA

My list is ready (missing a few designers because I haven't pulled the charts into the WIP basket from "other places).

Ladybug Ladybug LHN
Peppermint Twist Blue Ribbon Designs
Uber Flag Bent Creek
Red Thread Months Bent Creek
Bodacious Needlemania
Sampler Game Board Drawn Thread
Red Bird Valerie Pfeifer
Santa Square Sue Sekas
Quakers and Quilts Rosewood Manor Designs
Mother's Honor Due Blackbird Designs

Irish Tabletopper Dutch Treat
Bethany Beach local shop chart
Cleveland designer unknown
Quilt Basket designer unknown
The Barnraising designer unknown

With the exception of Bodacious and Irish Tabletopper, all are at least 1/3 done with The Barnraising being the oldest - probably from 1993 or 1994. Cleveland is for a high school friend in Australia and along with Bethany Beach will be done first as they are for others - the rest are for me! And I also will be updating my blog. Those are serious goals for 2011 - and since I'm an enrolled agent, with tax season looming, this will be more than a challenge. Glad to be among many who are looking forward to finishes!

What Good Motivation!

Hi, Everyone -

I just came across this challenge blog two days ago and think it will be a great incentive for me to finish some of my WIPs next year.  A fresh start at the beginning of a new year is always motivational for me...for a while, anyway!

I live in Ohio.  I have two children, five grandchildren, and a five month old great granddaughter, Elizabeth, who we call Izzie.  What a treasure!

I've looked around and come up with the following projects for my list:

1)  Birth Sampler for Izzie - it's in the designing stages only...haven't started the stitching yet, but this is my     most important project for 2011.

2)  Sampler of Seasons - this is a round robin piece from an EGA Guild that I belong to.  The stitching was done in 2009.  It's time for me to put some finishing touches on it and get it framed!

3)  Antique Heart Roll - Shepherd's Bush - just started.

4)  A Weary World Rejoices - Shakespeare's Peddler - about 1/3 is stitched.

5)  Debi's Roses Biscornu - Chatelaine freebie - very little stitched.  I'm trying to stitch it on black fabric, and don't know whether I can do this any more!

6)  Mary Wigham Sampler - NeedlePrint - about 20% stitched.

7)  Holly & Ivy - Shepherd's Bush - just needs button and charms.

8)  Random Thoughts - Drawn Thread - was hoping to get going on this last year for an online SAL.

9)  Anniversaries of the Heart - BBD - about 40% stitched.

10)Heart Pincushion for an Exchange - I need this in about 6 weeks.

11)Keepsake Box & Pinkeep - BBD LF#33 - 50 or 60% stitched.

12)Anna's Stocking - Shepherd's Bush - about 25% stitched...I have misplaced the perle cottons for this!

13)Springtime Heart - a small piece on canvas that I should be doing as a Guild project.

14)Fraidy Felix - With Thy Needle & Thread - stitching about 50% finished; will have to be put together, too.

15)Pineapple Biscornus - Jeannette Douglas - I am ashamed to admit that these were to be a Christmas for a very good friend LAST year, and I still have not finished them.  The stitching is about 80% complete.

16)  Bonus Project - Before seeing this blog, I was going to join a SAL for Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow.  I am not a fast stitcher, so I don't know whether stitching one of those blocks a month in addition to everything else I want to do is realistic or not, but hope to give it a try!

This is very ambitious for me.  If I finished half of these items, I'll be very happy.  If I finish 2/3 of the list I will be very happy and amazed!  Loved seeing the photos posted so far.  I'll do the same soon.

Good stitching, everyone.

Bobbi - Ohio

Above is my list of WIP's....there are a few more in the crevices of this house, safely tucked away for a more brave day! This is what I will start with...knowing myself the way I do, and with the list of new things I want to start, I am relatively sure that I will maybe finish one of the above, and on the wind of a recent finish, will want to pull out a new one! SO, that said, I am thinking I want to assign two days a week, to possibly, if I choose to, start one of these new things. That will give me a bit more freedom from the rigors of a 'chore' list!

Thanks for the opportunity, Jayne! I am so looking forward to seeing progresses made from everyone! I know it will be so motivating and encouraging to be a part of this challenge for 2011!

Finally Figured out my List - whew!

Well, it took until the day before Christmas Eve to find the time to go thru the stuff, make the decisions, decide again and actually make the commitment. So, here's my list:

1. Massachusetts - the Bay State Sampler, Jeannette Douglas
I started this at a retreat in 2007 - yikes. I'm classifying this as a Big project.

2. Dutch Sampler, Remember the Ladies, from Kreinik. This was my first silk and one over one project. Also a Big project.

3. Count the Stars, Dimensions Gold Collection Petites. Medium project - not much left but couching, etc.

4. Eiffel Tower, Compagnie des Ouvrages. Bought this in Paris this past May on our first (hoping it's not the last!) trip there. Medium project - barely started.

5. Zebras - Designs for the Needle. Old, aida, also barely started. But, my husband LOVES zebras and it would be nice to do this for him. Big project.

6. Holly & Hearts Ornament - Sweetheart Tree. Medium project - I have a good start on this one. Another retreat project.

7. Ireland - International Hearts - Victoria Sampler. Small project.

8. Dreamkeeper Etui - Brightneedle. Retreat project, minimal start, not sure I like it, but I feel like I need to finish it. Big project.

9. Pensacola Lighthouse - Jemini Designe. Two of my kids went to college in Pensacola - kind of a a nice memory for me. Small project.

10. Tulip House - Blackbird Designs - another retreat project, barely started (maybe I talk too much at retreats?) Medium project.

11. Itty Bitty Irish - Twisted Threads - good start on this Small project.

12 - 17.5. I know - the challenge is 15. But, I'm making a set of 8 napkins for my daughter and I have 1.5 done. I NEED to finish the rest. It's a Celtic Knot design and really requires focus - hard to work on in the evenings, which is when I have most of my stitching time. Big project.

Looking forward to this - never done a challenge before, so I'm hoping being involved will help me develop some discipline. However, I found some kitted up NEW projects while digging and they are tempting!

Also, I'm happy to see another Minnesota stitcher in the goups - this will be fun!

you know how some projects just jump right off the screen screaming at you to get them...yeah well that my friends is exactly what these two did to me. Scared the bajesus right out of me...ah but as Lindsay say,,, I working on my PHD so that makes it alright.... I love that...toooooo funny. AND I want to get started on my Growth Rings by Inc Circles which I have had for a while now...

So, if by some weird and wonderful chance the two new ones come in before New Years Day and I get a stitch or two in each one of them, well, then they become fair game...They will add to the pile of earning my PHD...

Have one stitch of a day my friends

My Projects

I only have 8 projects that are WIPs.  So I'll have to add some new starts.  Thank you, Jayne, for letting me join even though I don't have the 15 WIPs.

1.  The gift for my friend that I've been working on forever it seems.  I don't want to say much about it because I'm afraid she will see this.  I probably won't post a picture until it's finished and framed for her and Jayne said that was o.k.
2.  Rooster Wall Hanging - really this will be a pillow.  It's from a Better Homes and Gardens Magazine called Cross-Stitch For All Seasons.
3.  Seaside Cottages - A Dimensions Kit
4.  Four Seasons Chairs - Diana Thomas
5.  I love Santas Stocking - Bucilla Kit
6.  Joy - Prairie Moon
7.  Coffin Buzz - Freebie from Plum Street Samplers
8.  A Grand Adventure....here's the thing I can't find this one.  So I put off posting my list because I can't find it but I felt like I really needed to post my list.  Today is my last day at work for awhile so I'm going to search high and low for it.  It may still be packed from where we moved.

And here is a list of the new starts I'm thinking about to make up the 15....

9. Plaid Greetings - Ladybug Lane Designs
10. Goodie Holder - Charlette's Collectibles
11. Consumed by Gifts _ Brittercup Designs
12. Nickademus - Raise the Roof Designs
13. Candy Cane Reindeer - Serendipity Designs
14. Oh, Joy! - Val's Stuff
15. Love and Joy - Plum Street Samplers

And I know there are some really fast stitchers out there that could probably finish my list in no time.  But I'm a slow stitcher and this will be a challenge for me.

I'm really looking forward to January 1st!  I can't wait to see everyone's progress.  Thanks again, Jayne for coming up with this plan.

Hello!

Victorian Sampler Bag - Moss Creek Designs

These are also listed on my blog - www.tprosesblog.blogspot.com

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing their progress and being inspired!

My UFO/WIP list

What a great idea! Compared to many here, my UFO list is small, just 8 items. I do have a lot of projects kitted and ready to go, but I need to get working on these first. The first 2 projects will be done by the end of this month; 3-6 have been in production for the last 3 years, and 7-8 have a few stitches on them:

1. Joy--Midsummer Night Designs--JCS Ornament '09-few more stitches left here and then turning into an ornament; hanging pillow or a flat ornament, don't know yet.

2. Bring it On--JABC co.--freebie-awaiting buttons

3. Here--Mary Engelbreit--magazine-backstitching is left to do

4. Not even a Moose--Carol Scott Higeli--magazine-3/4 of the way

5. If the Broom Fits--Carla Acosta--magazine-3/4 of the way

6. All Hallow's Eve--Notforgotten Farm Samplers-1/4 of the way

7. Rose Garden Pincusion--BBD-a total of 30 stitches on it

8. Blackbird Sampler--BBD--freebie-half-way done

9. Adore Him--Plum Street Samplers--freebie-5 stitches right now

I do the 10 hr thing on my UFO'S, which is spending 10 hrs on each project. At the end of 10 hrs, I move to the next project and spend 10 hrs on it. It has helped me get through my WIP'S and UFO's. And I don't get too bored.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year's to all!

Shelly

Hoping This Doesn't Go the Way of New Year's Resolutions!

I've never kept a New Year's resolution yet. But I've found a place where an old lady can perhaps finish a few things that would remain buried for her dauther to uncover when she's gone, LOL! I'm hoping to meet a bunch of great gals and see how they do with theri UFO's.

I'm a grandmother to 3 teenagers who live right here in my hometown, so I consider myself a very blessed person. I share a home with my only husband of 45 years (child bride here, of course) and 5 cats, most of whom were rescued. DH and I have always been suckers for animals and have always had a variety when the kids were growing up. In our waning years, we've found cats to be the least trouble.

This list is incomplete, as I dragged out more than 15, some of which I'll save for another year, some of which I'd rather throw away, some of which are no longer appropriate, and some of which I don't even remember starting. There are maybe half a dozen I don't want to think about now.

1. "Winter Sampler" by Little House Needleworks
2. "The Library" by Little House Needleworks
3. "Peaceful Garden" by Moira Blackburn (what was I thinking?)
4. "Family Treasure II" by Told In A Garden (Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum)
5. "Cottage Retreat" by Julia Llucas in The Cross Stitcher magazine
6. "Sanctuary" by The Drawn Thread
7. "Gathering Goldfinches" kit by Dimensions
8. "Dolphin Family" kit by Creative Accents
9. "Golfing" by Hinzeit
10. "The Promise" by Just Nan
11."Scent of Old Roses" by Mirabilia
12. "Summer's End" by Pamela Kellogg
13. "What A Ride" by Ruby Slipper Needlework Designs
14. "Beneath  the Sunlit Sky" by Blackbird Designs
15. "Flip-Its 2002" by Lizzie Kate (yes, I still have 2 to go)

This list doesn't allow for any new WIP's so I'm not promising miracles. I just plan to have fun trying! I'm 63, and I figure I have about 10 years of enough eyesight left to stitch. Wish me luck, and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and productive New Year!

Another List of UFO's

Hi from a snowing Yorkshire. I didn't realise I had so many UFO's until I saw this blog and looked in my box..eek!  I seriously need to make an effort during 2011 to finish them, or at least most if I can. Here's my list so far -

1. French Postcard SAL
2. Monopoly Board
3. Lazy Daisy ornament
4. Ballerina in Crewelwork
5. Thomas Kincade project
6. Elephants (on black fabric which is why it's now a UFO!)
7. All Our Yesterdays ornament
8. Sanman Jars SAL
9. My mums bookmark
10. Photostitch of my dad
11. Winter Quaker
12. Summer Ball by Sandy Littlejohn
13. Kaliedoscope Snow Checkers board

I couldn't believe that some of my UFOs were little ones like my mums bookmark that I started over a year ago for Mother's Day!!  Think I'll start on the small ones to give me an incentive to finish the bigger ones. The longest UFO is the photostitch of my dad, it's in sepia tones and is now in it's 10th year of being a UFO :-{

Summery Afghan

I am planning to start working on "Pretty & Pink as my First UFO to get this one Finished in the New Next Year.

Starting on Jan 1 I will have four Projects that I will be stitching on:
Fantasy Triptych
Summery Afghan
Pretty & Pink
Rocky Mountain Christmas

When I get one of my UFO's done than I will pick up another UFO and start working on that one.  I will do this until I get them all done.

I have all of my UFO's sitting next to my stitching chair which is in my living room so I can just grab one and stitch on it.

I decided that I'm only going to be buying material and threads for my Stitching Projects this next new year.  I have enough patterns and Kits to last me for the rest of my life time.

I am also Hand Quilting my Purple Quilt to so I hope I can count this in too.  I work on this at night when I am too tired to stitch on my stitching projects.

That is all for now...
Take care & Happy Stitching

making a list ....

It's my turn with challenge projects.   I started making my list....and checking it twice....my goodness this is only the first count and there are 10 projects! And I do wonder what have I done with my time. There are still a couple of stash corners to check so I'm sure I will be adding to my list.  So here goes:

1.   Palm                  Dimension kit           This one is 90% finished.
2.   Tuscan Flavors  Dimension kit            About a third of the way along now.
3.   Floral Still          Mystic Stitch            Barely started.
4.   Cockatoo          Ross Originals          On the lap stand, gridded and some stitching done.
5.   Old style bathtubs                              Not much more stitching on this one.
6.   Greek Islands 1  Michael Powell kit   Lots of backstitching to do yet
7.   The Future         Passione Ricamo      About a quarter of the way along.
8.   Housework        Lizzie Kate               A few stitches on this one.
9.   Chickadees                                        Ornament, 90% done.
10.  Beehive             Mill Hill Kit               Lots of beading to do yet.

No doubt that I will make it to 15 but this is a start.

I'm just sayin......

Ok everybody~~~~ I have made my list and checked it twice..... Here are my 15 WIP's that I am putting in the "2011 up the the challenge" challenge.....In no particular order...............!

1- Nabby Garden Sampler by City Stitcher: I started this waaaaayyyyy back before some of you were born! Sadly, I have completed half of it and stopped....And, I LIKE it!! Go figure...

2- Eliz Emma Bice Wade Sampler by Threads of Gold: again, older than you know what... one third done...

3-A Quaker Christmas by By Gone Stitches....love it since it is totally in RED..half done....

4- 1738 Scottish Sampler by Threads of Gold: can you say circa:1995... another LARGE sampler..half done...

5-The American Pillow by Handwork Primitives...This one is Americana which I love and will probably be in the top 3 on my finish list....we will see...

6-Love Spoken Here by La-D-Da...not much done on this one yet, but it is in npi silks...so, will probably float to the top third of the list...

7-E. Davise by Threads of Gold....ok, ok....I was in a reproductive sampler phase way back..Still love ToGold.... This one is about a third done or so...

8-Family Sampler by LHN..a 2010 piece that I have only planted about 20 stitches in just to make sure I picked the right fabric.... I purposely knew this project was going to be 2011..

9-Private Exchange by Prairie Schooler...I have done 2 of the 4 pieces in this project....I NEED to finish this project up by about May or so.....

10-Quaker Diamonds by Rosewood Manor...Love the Valdani threads on this one...just not loving the 28 ct part....This is another very large piece........

11-Anniversaries of the Heart series by BBD....15 part project of which I have completed 7...

12-The Heart that Gives by Ewe/Eye/Friends...This is another oldie but goodie...half done on 40 ct...

13-Shores of HRH by Carriage House.....Another huge project....I have one third left to do.... Why havent I finished this piece?????

14-With my Needle by The Good Huswife....love the fallish colors....this one has very little done..

15- Frederick and Fredericka by Carriage House....I know...this is technically 2 pieces, but they are a set.....Fred is barely started so this one will take a while...............

So.....that is my project list for 2011...I have never sat down before and put this much thought into finishing Wips....Maybe that is why there are so many of them~~~ I love stitching smalls these days and all of these WIP are very large....So, I am definitely stepping out of my comfort zone with this challenge....But, I am going to do it because it fit perfectly into my stash diet theme for 2011...

Ok everybody..... That is my list....Show me what you've got!!!!!

I'm diving in ...

and here's my list for the 2011 Challenge of finishing projects that I couldn't wait to start ... and then I found another I couldn't wait to start ... and another ... oh, and not to mention that I have worked at my LNS on a part-time basis for the past 7.5 years. That means I have 7.5 years of stash I had to run home and start THAT VERY NIGHT OR I WAS GOING TO CEASE TO EXIST ON THE FACE OF THIS PLANET. Narrowing it down to 15 was the hard part!

1. Lionesses from Stoney Creek's "Stitching Safari." My 6-year-old son was soooo cute when he very politely asked his mommy to stitch this for him. He is now a very handsome 15-year-old filled with teenaged angst and I'm hearing rumblings of how the past nine years have been filled with nothing but disappointment. "I no longer have faith in my mother, as this sort of behavior has become the norm," says he.

2. Birth Band Sampler by Drawn Thread. Please refer to #1 on the list. I can't even remember when I started this one. It was a few years after I gave birth. Then I was going to finish it for said child's 10th birthday. My how time flies. Now my goal is to have it done by his 16th birthday. I'm not going to be mother-of-the-year at this rate. And it's a really good thing I only had one kid.

3. Polar Bear Snow Globe by Bent Creek. I swapped the fabric out of the kit for something I thought was a better choice (or it's the fabric rebel in me -- I switch out fabric because I can). I just had to see how it would look. This will be a recurring theme as the list grows.

4. Winter House by Bent Creek.

5. Spring Log Cabin Quilt Square by Sekas.

6. Loves Me, Loves Me Not by M Designs.

7. Take Time to Read by Jeanette Douglas.

8. Take Time for Friends by Jeanette Douglas. (The esteemed Mrs. Douglas needs to design "Take Time to Finish All of the Projects You've Started before You Even Think About Picking Up Something New." She has my permission to dedicate it to me.)

9. Seaside Retreat by Blackbird Designs. This was a kitted project from a retreat I attended at Dyeing to Stitch in Virginia Beach in 2009. I love, love, love the design. I love it so much that each and every smyrna stitch has to be perfect. Do-over seems to be the theme on this one.

10. To Light the Way by Blackbird Designs, a little kit that was available for purchase at the retreat. The fabric, R&R Reproductions' "Virginia Beach" is so luscious I envision rolling in yards of it (funny how my visions don't involve me actually rolling in real waves of water). I need to envision it finished.

11. Autumn Brew from Cross Eyed-Cricket's "Autumn Aprons." Another fabric switch and another wanted to see how it would look. It would look better on the wall framed.

12. Easter Island from Mosey 'n Me. And another fabric switch. One lone bunny is occupying the island on some really fun hand-dyed fabric. He looks lonely. He could look at me pleadingly for a friend but I have opted not to stitch his eyes yet.

13. Holiday Lighthouse by Erica Michaels. Stitching this on a soft blue opalescent fabric. It actually looks like a snowy winter's evening. This has been one of my most favorite things I have ever stitched. Maybe that's why I'm drawing it out. A few stitches a year and I've had my fix.

14. Bat Kitty by Prairie Moon. Switched out the fabric to Monster Mash green. (I warned that it would be a recurring theme.)

15. Blue Mountain Bunny by Sweetheart Tree.

Seeing how the challenge doesn't start until 2011, I still have plenty of time to start a few of my "wanna stitch it now" projects!
Kathy

Ok, I'll start the needle pulling...ball on a roll sew to speak

with all of the finishing almost out of my way, I decided to come up with my list of WIP's for this FCJC.

and I am so sure that if I were right smack dab in front of the Cabinet of Stash I would see all of the other projects in line but these popped into my head off the hop.

So, now you know why I referd to this Challenge as Flip'n Crazy...

    Alrighty then

Ok, so, here we are, growing in numbers and waiting for more who may be
    " up for a challenge"
Simply leave a comment with your email and your in if you wish to join this craziness.  Once your email address is here I will return it with an invitation to have the availability to post your progress with  your intentions and maybe even an  initial list of your currant WIPs  to which are a priority.

I am so sure, as most of us are well established in the stash world that there will be a few who hop off the beaten path, such as I did just this morning and start new items and that is  A  O  K.  Most of my WIPs are of a somewhat larger scale than most would endure and that's OK with me but will all of the wonderfully talented designers out there and their quickness to design more wonderful projects it is darn near impossible to finish one before we purchase the next, let alone 15WIPs, but with a bit of  P & V ,
I will tend to the Works In Progress with true determination &
an eye for threads @ Henley's Landing
