I am starting to speed up as it is almost close to finishing. I think another 2 weeks of work and it will be completed! Happy Dance! This is my oldest UFO as I had stitched a few stitches and then put it aside to work on something else. I had completely forgotten about this for a number of years. Sigh!

Here are photos of my intended projects for this year. I haven't stitched much at all so far this year. Life seems to get in the way and there aren't enough hours in the day! Above is The Flax Sampler by Eileen Bennett of The Sampler House. Below is my Most Noble Pursuit. Yes, the date is 2007. I got bogged down with the over 1 stitching, couldn't see it with contacts and cheaters. Time has done wonders, now I can see it great by looking under my bifocal glasses. I have made a bit of progress since I took this photo so there might be an update at the end of this long weekend.

Above is Emmanuel's Song from Shepherd's Bush. It is tough to get a good photo between the cream on cream areas and the length. Below is Keep the Spirit, a Debbie Mumm kit. I've finished the center portion except for more snow, then it is on to the border.

Plant Kindness Reap Love by Lizzie Kate. As of last night I got the words all done...I just have the Bird House and the Spade to stitch and that is it. I am going to get a Bee Charm when I go to my LNS and put the Bee Charm in between the two sets of words.

Fantasy Triptych by TW - More Progress on this. I am getting close to the Prince's Shoulder/Neck area. I only work on this in the mornings.

I finally finished Birds Of A Feather by With Thy Needle and Thread, I did so much frogging I almost forgot how to stitch a cross.

I love this pattern it is much prettier in person, the picture does not do it justice.

The fabric type is 35 count confederate gray worked over two threads, the threads used were Weeks Dye Works, I started this back in October.

My next Up for a Challenge is Drawn threads Friends this is a pattern from about 1996.

I love the different stitches in this little beauty, I am going to mount this in a round wooden box top. The fabric 28 count Lugana Shadowbrook using all DMC threads.

I am working on a Just Nan I started a while ago Filagree Fancies Pansy Basket, this is done on 28 count Zweigart fabric, two threads over two.

I hope to have this finished wednesday or thursday I have to work early all this week, so maybe I can stitch when I get home.

I want to say Thank You to Jayne for continuing the challenge into 2012 since like a few others my 2011 list only had about 3 finishes checked off. I have entirely too many BAP's in the works and the 2011 list was way too ambitious for me. With that in mind, I am only listing 4 wip's. (I have lots more than 4!) Two are smaller or need less work to finish and the other 2 are much bigger. I will add more if I get the opportunity as the year progresses.

The Bane of My Existence

~~Some~~ All of you may not remember me ... I signed up in 2010 (wow!) and tried for about 5 minutes to finish 15 projects. I failed miserably. So miserably that I ~~participated~~ failed yet another challenge in which my local needlepoint shop had a UFO finishing contest. I came in ... last, yes last. You can't be in the game if you don't even pick up ONE project and STITCH ONE STITCH. I have plenty of excuses. Real ones, not like the dog ate my projects and thus, I will be turning in my things late. No, to paraphrase the Queen when she remarked what a bad year it was when Charles and Diana split, 2011 was an "annus horribilis" for the family and myself (strange, saying that Latin phrase out loud conveys the horribleness of it all; typing it out makes it look like you had to prep for that "certain procedure" that no one likes to talk about). In a year that you attend the funerals of a 17-year-old, an 18-month-old, a 3-year-old, and your husband's best friend, well, it's horribilis alright. Needlework didn't even make it to the proverbial backseat of my life; it was left at the curb while we tried to help friends and family pick up the shattered pieces of their lives.

To say 2012 can't get here fast enough is an understatement! Imagine my delight when I saw that the challenge continues to 2012. However, my list is going to be kept to one project and one project only. I have done the math and can justify this so I can remain a part of the group! I will be celebrating the anniversary of starting this project 11 years ago come January. I finished two projects on my list before the wheels fell off the stitching cart (Polar Bear Snow Globe and Winter House, both by Bent Creek). So, if I take the 11, add the 2, that makes 13 so then I can just pull another two off my list if I finish the "bane of my existence": Lionesses by Stoney Creek (Stoney Creek - the two words in the stitching language that will cause gasps to be heard from those faint of stitching heart). One lioness is looking out across the Serengeti -- it took 11 years for her to get there so she's enjoying the view. The other, well, she can't look anywhere because she doesn't have a head. This, eventually, will be a gift for my son who asked quite politely for it when he was in first grade. He graduates in 2013. I would like to have it done so he can take it to college and have a reminder not to procrastinate. I asked him if I could just stitch a little red on the mouth of the lioness that has a head and make it look like the whole circle of life thing but he won't hear of it.

I'm officially proclaiming 2012 to be annus mirabilis - year of wonders - and the year of the Lionesses. Happy New Year to one and all!

I have two finishes one is the Penguin Jive artwork by Ellen Krans adapted to cross stitch by Trina Laube this is a pattern from the july 2008 Cross Stitch & Needlework magazine.
I did this on 28 count fabric not sure of the fabric type.
I did change him out a little I used Kreinik silver threab insread of the Kreinik thread called for, I did not put beads on the trees, this is a door hanger for my front door.

Next is the Halloween Fairy by Nora Corbett from the Cross Stitch & Needlework magazine september 2008, I stitched her on a smaller count this was a mistake the beads seem to small for the pattern I am just going with it, I am not sure of the fabric I did use a hand dyed fabric I bought from my favorite Needlework shop, I have finished 11 of my 15 I donot think I will get all 15 done before the end of the year, I will do a challenge again if given the chance I still have many projects that have been started and just waiting for

me to finish them, wish me luck.

I belong to the Stitching Sisters Harvest/Hallowee/Thanksgiving SAL on Yahoo and we are suppose to stitch on our projects for this particular theme on Sundays. I am way too tired to stitch on anything on Sundays after being in Church on Sunday Mornings. I decided to stitch on this just on Mondays. I am not tired and I get a lot of stitching done on this.

This one of my 15 I am so glad to have her done she is a Judy Dalvit pattern she was a needlepoint pattern converted to cross stitch, I did her on 28 count and finished her off as a stand-up for my Easter display I worked on her a long time I picked her up and put her down many times this pattern is from the Stitchers Worls march 2001 issue, there are three more Judy Dalvit patterns of three little bunnys they are so cute I may do them sometime after I get caught up with my other stitching.

This is another Up For A Challenge finish I love this pattern it was given to me by my friend Cindy thank-you Cindy.
I did this on 32 count one over one.

Wow! I've not posted on here in forever...but I am still reading it and keeping up with watching everyones progress!! You are all doing GREAT!! I, however have only finished 3 things on my list...here is #3- which is page nine of Howling at the Moon complete! I am hoping to finish the last two pages of this project by years end! We shall see how that goes! Boy was I thinking very ambitiously when I set my goals for this challenge...can you say fail? Just kidding! I did what I could, I really didn't think it was realistic since I knew I would have a new baby this year and so that is a huge time suck, but I'm doing what I can! I am still enjoying watching every one else working on this challenge!

I finally finished The Bee Sampler from LHN earlier this month. I worked several bands on Emmanuel's Song before making a new start on a small Halloween piece. Please excuse the terrible picture. The light wasn't good and I had a hard time getting the whole thing in the frame. I'm not mentioning the wrinkles.

Yes don't faint I finished another UFO. For a change from my Postcard SAL I picked up a small All Our Yesterdays that I'd started absolutely ages ago for my MIL. Managed to finish it in 3 evenings of stitching whilst DH was away working, I'll finish it into the ornament on Sunday when I have the sewing machine out. Onto my needlebook this weekend before back to the Postcard SAL...

Didn't even finish 1 month as we were so busy during the day that I was too exhausted by the time the kids were in bed. The 12th WIP done. This is a freebie from Plum Street Samplers. I stitched it straight from the chart except underneath the tree where the numbers 2010 were. I put 2 gifts instead-

I just noticed that the yellow ornament ball is missing 2 stitches!

This is the last WIP I had last year. I'm proud to say that I have just 4 WIP's as of today that I started this year. I had a few medium sized projects and the rest were small so finishing all of them was attainable! My hat's off to those of you who have large WIP's! This has been a lot of fun and I will keep checking out your finishes!

I know I have been missing for quite awhile but I have been busy with my daughter Ashley's Birthday party, my daughter Kristina's Baby Shower she is due Nov. 6th! My daughter Jen who I haven't seen for 8 years had my grandchild 4 months ago named Jonah made a surprise visit for Kristina's Baby shower. It was awesome! Jen left on bad terms years ago. Also Hurricane Irene did alot of damage where I lost power for a week along with the internet. Things are pretty much slowing down so I should get more stitching done. Here is another of my challenge pieces.

I just finished one of my 15 challenge. This is a Lizzie Kate's design called, "Seeds 4 A Song". It is stitched on 28ct, red Jobelan with some DMC and hand-dyed threads. I didn't have all of the required specialty threads that was called for in the chart. There are 3 sunflower buttons, one regular button on the left birdhouse above the heart and black seeds spread between the letter "a".

Here are pictures of the WIPs I stitched on this week.
This the February Violets from EMS. The colors are so pretty.

I had started on the November Snowman, but have now started a second time. The fabric I chose for the first time was not working, so here goes again. Now it is 14ct white aida and I am ok with it. There is a lot of white, light beige and tan so it is not showing much yet.

A good start of stitching on the Sept Weatherpoem.

This is the 2009 SAL NOEL. I am stitching on both ends of a tablerunner.

I forgot all about posting these here... bad me!

I finished my Chibi-style Severus Snape

And 'Daily Bread', which is - or was - my oldest WIP, started in high school Home Ec class

I have also made fair progress on Frederick the Literate; this is the most recent book-finish:

This should actually count as 15 WIP finishes......But rather than counting each block, I am counting the entire piece as a finish in my challenge............. Blackbird Designs Anniversaries of the Heart is finished~~ YIPPEEE!!!!

The overall design on 36 ct linen ended up measuring 25 inches by 13 inches...

The last row looks like this....

The first two blocks are dedicated to my husband and our wedding date...

I am a graduate of NCState University in Raleigh and wanted to always remember my beloved School of Textiles and the design classes that contributed to inspiring my creativity....

These two blocks were stitched in honor of our two sons....

Joyce's Weekly Update on WIP Challange

I have now completed 12 Christmas Cards for the 2011 Holiday season. I am enjoying stitching the cards as all my friends love to received my stitched cards.
I have a spot all picked out for The Library LHN I am on the third of four panels.

This is the last of the 2010 ornament series by LittleHouse Needleworks. I love all of them. Looking forward to starting the 2011 series.

Ater a third start I am now happy with the way Christmas Animals is coming along. This is the first page of many, but the phasant is looking ok.

This is the block that is in the last book....Then I have a "double block" in that same book and will be finished!!! Wow....can't hardly believe it~~~ Since it is a double block, will take me a little while...And, of course, I still have to go back and stitch all the personalization and dedication information in the blocks.....I CAN see the light at the end of the tunnel~~
